- “Seasonal” Window: Covers the exact same date range (day and month) as the forecast period, but from the previous year. This allows it to capture and weigh the impact of seasonality, such as holiday seasons, Black Friday, or events like Prime Day, which may not be evident in recent data.
The algorithm doesn’t just combine the data from both windows; it also employs a weight calculation system (based on “errors” from previous forecasts) that intelligently balances the influence of the recent and seasonal trends. This ensures that the forecast is not distorted by unique demand spikes and provides a highly accurate and reliable result for your logistics. MoM and YoY Analysis: Epinium’s machine learning algorithm doesn’t just look at raw data. It analyzes and weighs MoM (Month-over-Month) and YoY (Year-over-Year) variations to identify long-term trends and filter out seasonal “noise.” Key Variables: The forecasting engine integrates critical decision-making parameters from your supply chain, such as your suppliers’ production timings, their historical reliability, and your chosen safety stock levels. Additionally, it takes into account that advertising investment and price variation can directly influence an increase or decrease in sales.
